Silk Biomed SL is a spin-off of the Center for Biomedical Technology (CTB) from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The company aims to develop silk-based biomaterials, what are protein materials, both natural and artificial. Silk Biomed SL collaborates with the CTB Mechanobiology Group (GMB-UPM in the Tec4Bio consortium) first in studies of interaction between cells and biomaterials based on silk. In second place, the development and improvement of current fiber production techniques is sought, gels and films with the aim of optimizing their interaction with cells for applications in tissue engineering.
